Installation, video loop, 9 min, sculpture plaster and jesmonite.
The installation, which consists of a three-channel video projection and a sculpture, is a work produced for the exhibition with the same name at Bohusläns museum 2025. The work is based on a collection of shells assembled by a local station inspector Lundgren and that was donated to the museum in 1930. This collection, one of the largest of its kind, consists of shells and mussels from all over the world. The collection takes on new meanings when Signe Johannessen unveils it from the archive for the first time, A new gaze becomes tangible through Johannessen’s lens, where death and man’s insatiable desire to possess and classify are at the center.
